Perimeter security is a separate branch of the security alarm system. Most of the equipment used to guard the premises inside, absolutely not suitable for protection from the outside. The main reasons are the inability to operate due to the temperature regime and humidity level. Sensors located inside the premises are not exposed to low temperatures and they do not have to withstand water flows caused by rain and snow. Most often for the perimeter protection infrared barter (IR barrier) and vibration systems are used. The latter are used only on fences and gates, while greatly distorting their appearance. As for IR barriers, their application is very diverse, they can be used as a protective curtain on windows, in places of entry and exit of cars, in parking lots along the entire perimeter, thus preventing penetration at any point of the fence. A special role in guarding the perimeter is played by the security of security equipment and its disguise. Developers of IR barriers solve the problem of camouflage by installing a protective darkened glass on the barrier, this glass does not allow an intruder to see the direction of the beam of the barrier. In addition, the barriers are tempered. If the attacker decides to open the IR barrier, the central unit will immediately receive an alarm message from the sabotage barrier. The operating temperature range of the barriers is approximately 40 – + 60 ° C, which allows them to work in difficult weather conditions for machinery. Equipment for perimeter protection is considered professional and is not intended for self-installation by the hands of a non-trained consumer.
The price of IR barriers ranges from 150 $. up to 1500. Such a price breakdown is caused mainly by three factors, firstly the height of the barrier, secondly by the brand and third by the number of beams. The more rays, the lower the probability of false positives and the higher the IR barrier. As you probably already understood the IR barrier is quite a complicated device. Its configuration, connection and installation requires special training and knowledge. When choosing an IR barrier, be sure to consult the manager, especially if you are going to perform installation and adjustment yourself.
Perimeter security systems are a modern solution for building a full-fledged security alarm system. To date, security systems are complemented by wireless IR barriers.
